2- and 3-factors of Graphs on Surfaces

چکیده
It has been conjectured that any 5-connected graph embedded in a surface Σ with sufficiently large face-width is hamiltonian. This conjecture was verified by Yu for the triangulation case, but it is still open in general. The conjecture is not true for 4-connected graphs. In this paper, we shall study the existence of 2and 3-factors in a graph embedded in a surface Σ. A hamiltonian cycle is a special case of a 2-factor. Thus it is quite natural to consider the existence of these factors. We give an evidence to the conjecture in a sense of the existence of a 2-factor. In fact, we only need the 4-connectivity with minimum degree at least 5. In addition, our face-width condition is not huge. Specifically, we prove the following two results. Let G be a graph embedded in a surface Σ of Euler genus g. (1) If G is 4-connected and minimum degree of G is at least 5, and furthermore, face-width of G is at least 4g − 12, then G has a 2-factor. (2) If G is 5-connected and face-width of G is at least max{44g − 117,5}, then G has a 3-factor. The connectivity condition for both results are best possible. In addition, the face-width conditions are necessary too.

Micromachining the Aluminium Tubes Using Abrasive Finishing in Alternating Magnetic Field
This study introduced a method based on magnetic field assisted finishing mechanism for micromachining the inner surfaces of Aluminum tubes. In this approach, using the alternating magnetic field of an AC electromotor, abrasive particles were formed as Magnetic Rods (Magnetic Clusters) and surface micromachining was carried out by the dynamic particular pattern made by an alternating magnetic f...
متن کاملA Characterization of Generically Rigid Frameworks on Surfaces of Revolution
A foundational theorem of Laman provides a counting characterisation of the finite simple graphs whose generic bar-joint frameworks in two dimensions are infinitesimally rigid. Recently a Laman-type characterisation was obtained for frameworks in three dimensions whose vertices are constrained to concentric spheres or to concentric cylinders. Noting that the plane and the sphere have 3 independ...

متن کاملProduct of normal edge-transitive Cayley graphs
For two normal edge-transitive Cayley graphs on groups H and K which have no common direct factor and $gcd(|H/H^prime|,|Z(K)|)=1=gcd(|K/K^prime|,|Z(H)|)$, we consider four standard products of them and it is proved that only tensor product of factors can be normal edge-transitive.

We introduce a polynomial invariant of graphs on surfaces, PG , generalizing the classical Tutte polynomial. Poincaré duality on surfaces gives rise to a natural duality result for PG , analogous to the duality for the Tutte polynomial of planar graphs. This property is important from the perspective of statistical mechanics, where Tutte polynomial is known as the partition function of the Pott...
متن کاملSome recent results on domination in graphs
In this paper, we survey some new results in four areas of domination in graphs, namely: (1) the toughness and matching structure of graphs having domination number 3 and which are “critical” in the sense that if one adds any missing edge, the domination number falls to 2; (2) the matching structure of graphs having domination number 3 and which are “critical” in the sense that if one deletes a...
